On Vacation

Hi Everybody,

Out of the Desert is taking the rest of July and all of August off. It’s getting pretty hot out here. Look for us to return in September.

We also need some prayers for John Lundmark’s dog..Niko…who is to undergo some surgery on his left hind leg. He is a HUGE dog and needs the surgery and the following rehab so that he can get around normally and without pain. Many of you will understand that…John’s dog IS family. He will be doing what ever it takes to have this be a successful operation.

We’re pulling for you John and Niko.

Video Promo…Check this out Click here.

There is a new kid in town and it is called the Southern Nevada Center for the Arts. This will be a mixed venue for artists of all kinds. Painters, sculpture artists and others can rent work space with the built in benefit of having potential buyers see the artist’s work because people will come to THE CENTER just to see what going on there.

Not only will there be working artists displaying their work but Carl Corcoran (the owner) wants to have a 200 seat venue for live music of all kinds as well as food and drink. Later, as the place develops, he expects to have a 600 seat venue upstairs to hold bigger shows. This looks like it is going to be very interesting to watch and see how it develops.

On May 7th, a Friday, We will be playing on an outdoor stage there for a Media Day which will have all sorts or TV and Press People there to attend sort of a grand opening although the place has tenants already. It’s just a date to officially invite the press and public to show what will be in store for the future from the Southern Nevada Center for the Arts.

Come on out and see this. This could be the start of something big.
We will be playing between 7PM and 9PM or longer and there is no cover charge.

It is located at:

1310 South 3rd Street
Las Vegas NV 89104

Give me a call or send an email for more information.

Brewery on March 27th

Mar
27
8:00 pm

Well…..If the weather is nice enough, we hope to be back outside in the beautiful Beer Garden at The Boulder Dam Brewing Company. There is outdoor seating for 85 or so and it is a much better venue for live music. It is full service out there also so of course food and drink can be brought right to your table.

We were very glad to be able to play indoors though and wish to thank Todd and Kerry and everybody else for putting in the stage and having music through the winter. Thanks Guys.

Come on out and see the show. There will be new songs and I think everyone will be pleased with the improvement in our vocal arrangements. See you there.

Thank You…May I have Another

Mar

8:00 pm

Huge thanks to all that came to the Brewery for our concert last Saturday the 30th of January. We had a full house and you all were very responsive to our show. You are all making us feel very welcome and Todd who hires us is very pleased with the attendance. Who knows…..If you all keep this up we may be able to find a niche for Bluegrass out here in the desert.

We certainly want to play at other venues around the greater Las Vegas area and spread the spirit so we are asking those that like what you heard to help us find those places. Come on. Put Out of the Desert to work and make that energy that was felt happen around the Valley. Get us a good paying gig and take a 15% COMMISSION. In this day of band successes through nontraditional sources like internet word of mouth, we’re asking for your help. If you want it…make it happen. Just remember that we are looking for more of a concert type venue instead of noisy, smokey bars. We want places that are comfortable for the audience and us and where the whole family could come. Parks and Recreation Department Concerts, Festivals and outdoor events, Church functions, City Celebrations, Casino Shows. Things like that.

Our next gig at the Brewery is on March 5th which is a Friday this time. Come on out and join the fun and help us grow by bringing new faces. Maybe try to persuade people that haven’t heard Bluegrass to come out and give it a try. For information on how to get there, here is the link for the Brewery.

Thanks again to all who have come to see us in the past and to all those who are new friends. Out mailing list grows with each performance and we are honored to play for you.

New Line Up to Debut at Brewery on 1/30/10

Jan
30
8:00 pm

We’ve been quiet for a while so we could all enjoy the Holidays with our families and friends. Hope you all had enjoyed yours. The other reason for our web and performance absense is that we are fitting in two new members and we are ready to showcase this new line up on Saturday, January 30th at the Boulder Dam Brewing Company. We hope to see all our friends there and that every body brings a new friend or 10 to see us launch this great line up.

Our additions are:

Jon Meek who plays dobro and mandolin with us, but he plays everything there is really well. We hate him. (KIDDING) He will also be singing harmonies.

On bass will be Bruce Thomsen playing for now an acoustic-electric bass guitar. He may go for the stand up bass later on. (when we make so much extra money that he can afford it.) He is also going to be supporting the harmonies.

Folks…..this is very exciting and this is a really good group of guys. We really want to thank you all for your support last year and hope that this year will really have Out of the Desert being seen in lots of new and differnt venues. Keep and ear out for us.

Also….once more at the Brewery before Christmas. We will be playing on Saturday the 19th of December. Let’s take a break from Christmas shopping and the stress of the holidays with a night out with Out of the Desert.

Come out and have some fun at one or both of these locations before the hectic holiday season consumes all you time. We also want to introduce you all to our newest member Jon Meek. He will be playing with us at the Saxby’s gig on November 20th. This young man plays mandolin and dobro with us and well as adding his harmony voice to our sound. You’re sure to like this addition. See you out there.
