The Bluegrass Brunch Debut went great. The day was so nice that we played outside and people that were eating inside asked if they could move outside so the could hear us play. We even had dancers doing the Electric Slide (or in our case the “acoustic” slide) while we were playing. We have dubbed them “The Out of the Desert Dancers”.
Our host Wes made us feel right at home and his great staff put together some great drinks (I had a killer Mojito) and food. Don’t pass up trying the sweet potato french fries w/ clusters of blue cheese. That was the best.
Sure hope you can come on down and help keep this thing going. It’s great fun and we have set up dates in January and February. See you there. Check the calendar for the dates. Here is a link for directions.
The address is 107 E. Charleston #155 Las Vegas, NV 89104

Out of the Desert is trying out a new venue This Sunday. No cover charge but great food and drinks so come on out to see if we can get this thing off the ground. We hope to be able to do this bi-monthly and if we get enough interest we can start getting guest performers and other bands in here.
This will also be the debut of our newest member. This will be Brian Burns playing upright bass. We will call him number 4. (just kidding Brian). Brian is a great fit for our band and we hope to have him around for a very long time.
If you have any questions just use the email link on this site or give me a call on the contact phone.

Hi All, I’ve posted our VIDEO that was just aired on Vegas PBS. Two time Emmy winner Reginald LaFrance (below the band billboard in the center) produced this short feature that was aired November 4th 2011.
We are very honored that Vegas PBS selected us for the Bluegrass segment of the Vegas PBS Arts Showcase. Our band as well as other local talent of different genres will be featured Friday, December 23rd at 9 PM on Vegas PBS.

Hi Everybody,
It’s been a more that two months since I’ve updated the website here. You know…in Seattle, summer was the time that was really easy to get gigs at all sorts of civic events. You could hardly miss having your calendar filled with all sorts of outdoor festivals, art shows, street fairs etc but I find that it is just the opposite here in the Las Vegas area. It is simply way to hot to do anything out doors. Oh well. Here is what is coming up.
Friday, October 28th will find us at the Boulder Dam Brewing Company and we would sure like to have you all come by. We will be without Rick Seligman that evening but have no fear. John Meek with step right in playing every thing he can carry. Dobro, Mandolin and maybe even the fiddle too. Come on out and see the gang.
Out of the Desert has been doing a little something in all this time that has gone by. PBS Las Vegas will be airing a show called Give me the Banjo. It is narrated by Steve Martin of Saturday Night Live fame. Most everybody knows that Steve is an excellent banjo player and this show will kind of be a history of the banjo.
Our band had been contacted to be a little feature at the end of this show to be one of the highlighted local artists in the series called Vegas PBS Arts Showcase. We did a video shoot over in Nelson, Nevada and will be doing the song How Mountain Girls Can Love and also a short interview on how we started playing this kind of music, how we all met and stuff like that.
This show will air on November, 4th at 9 PM. Here is a link to the Vegas PBS Arts Showcase and if you scroll down a bit you will see our band. We were very proud and excited to be selected to do this spot. Hope you all get a chance to see it.
That’s all for now. See you soon.
Mark

Hi All,
Out of the Desert has another date at the Boulder Dam Brewing Company on Saturday, April 23rd from 8PM to 11PM. If you need any information, just give me a call or send and email. You can reach me through the “Contact Us” link on this web page in the right hand column.
Rick, our fiddle player, is back in top form after his hernia surgery and we are ready to go. The weather should be great and we expect to play out in the Beer Garden. We look forward to seeing you all there.

As a side note…..If anyone of you have any pictures of Out of the Desert that have all 5 of us (John Lundmark, Jon Meek, Bruce Thomsen, Rick Seligman and Mark Sanders) I would be very greatful if you could email them to me so I can perhaps use them in future posters or promotional material.
Thanks in advance.

Out of the Desert will be playing outdoors at the upper parking lot of Rail Road Pass Casino on Saturday, April 9th 2011. We will be playing 3 sets between noon and 3PM.
This is a gig for
The River Mountains Loop Trail Partnership.
Combined efforts of The Bureau of Reclamation, National Parks and other agencies and individuals have been working on a trail system for walking and biking and they are celebrating with this event so people become aware of the great project that they have made available for all to use.
Come out and have a look. It’s right in your back yard and everybody is welcome. Bring the kids. Any questions about where this is just drop me an email or give me a call. (see Contact Us for phone or email)
